Student Painting Exhibition at AUD

Now viewable in the American University in Dubai rotunda gallery, an exhibition of my students’ paintings from this semester. So far, they’ve made a series of paintings inspired by modern art styles, explored abstraction of a subject, and painted a figure from observation. I’m looking forward to seeing what they make for their final projects.

Psychedelic Tropical Storms

This painting is inspired by the swirling patterns I carve into my linocut prints. I built it up with lots of layers of color blending, to bright and chunky results. It turned out like psychedelic tropical storms, but I think it will be a nice way to brighten up my entryway.

Doodle Painting

I’m not normally much for abstraction, but I enjoy doodling while bored or when warming up to draw. I wanted to fill up this canvas in my studio, and decided these bulbous loopy clouds will do the trick. Not sure if I’ll keep going with it, but it was fun.
