This Saturday, I will have a gelliplate and collagraph printmaking workshop at Sharjah Art Foundation. We’ll start with a tour of Leda Catunda’s exhibition at the Sharjah Art Museum, and draw inspiration from her work to produce our own textured and colorful prints by inking and pressing everyday items. More information and sign-ups here.
I had another fun linocut workshop this week in Dubai. I have done these at homes for small groups, in offices for work socializing events, in galleries for interactive events, and as part of large art festivals. They’re a great creative outlet for anyone to try, with no experience necessary and unique results for every artist.
It was a fun linocut workshop yesterday in Abu Dhabi, talking print with the fine folks at RAK Art and Khawla Art & Culture.
I’ll be giving a linocut workshop at Khawla Arts in Abu Dhabi on July 5th at 10am. Carve and print your own design within two hours! No experience necessary.
I hosted a linocut printmaking workshop at Hay Designs in Dubai this week. I was lucky to meet and work with talented designers from all over the world. Over the two-hour class, I introduced the historic technique and instructed drawing, carving, and printing techniques. It was a fun event and I always look forward to the opportunity to share my favorite process with other interested creatives.
On Sunday, February 18, at 3pm, I’ll be having a conversation about the end of the world at Zerzura Books in Alserkal Avenue. I’ll start by speaking about topics from my book The End is at Hand with shop owner Alex Warren, then we’ll open up the discussion to attendees about their thoughts and curiosities. It’s meant to be fun, open, and thought-provoking.

I recently had a fun and wide-ranging conversation with Daniel Glenn from Fascinating Nouns about the end of the world. We talk about doomsday cults, Mouse Utopia, Chicken Little, and how we are just nine missed meals from total anarchy.
On April 5th, I’ll be hosting a panel discussion for the SGC International printmaking conference in Providence, RI, USA. You can register here, with more information below:
Join the roundtable discussion "Printmaking in the Community." It shares interviews from printmakers from around the world, including those in attendance, about how printmaking is a particularly communal process. Beginning with the history of printmaking, each new process became a tool for advancing the sharing of information in communities. This includes the impact of the Gutenberg Press for books and screen printing for posters. We'll talk about how printmakers contribute to their community today through illustration, bookmaking, posters, art markets, workshops, print exchanges, sharing tips on the internet, their importance in the classroom and in art therapy, and bringing people together at conferences such as in Providence.
